Plastic Surgery love it or hate it?

In Australia the topic is still taboo…either people don’t discuss it (unless they are telling their closest girlfriends) or people look down upon it as something superficial and vain.

What’s the difference between getting a facial (that’s for beauty purposes isn’t it?) or having some injections to make you look better…

I’m in two frames of mind about it…I want to age gracefully…I want to have a face that shows the life I have lived…the sorrow and the laughs…

And on the other hand I am scared to grow (and look old)…I’m sure when I enter a new stage of my life (husband, kids and a house with a picket fence) I wont worry about things like age…I will want to look wise…

At the moment I haven’t made up my mind about plastic surgery…and I can’t make a comment on what I will want when I am older and looking a bit worse for wear…

Personally I think we have to move on from worrying about looks and how we are ’seen’…the only person that you should worry about thinking you are beautiful is going to be the man who you will fall in love with…and I can guarantee someone out there will find you the most stunning person inside and out.

My best friend page was having a photo shoot yesterday and I realised so many people didn’t know what to do.

As you can see from the photos I helped with her hair and she got her makeup done professionally beforehand.

Here are 10 tips to make sure you get the best photos possible!

1. Choose a good no GREAT photographer. They usually have a website where you can see their previous work.
2. Know what photos you want taken. Are they modelling ones? Headshots? Just for fun? Have a few photos with you that you like the style of to show the photographer.
3. Try and have your photos taken between 9am and 11am or 2pm and 4pm. The lighting outside is nicer.
4. You want to feel good about yourself so make sure you have done all the beauty fixes you can. ( get your eyebrows done, have a manicure, moisturise, etc)
5. 72 hours before avoid all foods that make you feel bloated. Things to avoid: Caffeine, red meat, alcohol, spicy food etc
6. Make up. Have a professional do your make up. I can’t stress this enough. Even if it’s only to make you feel a million bucks! If you can’t afford to go to a makeup counter (Visit MAC or Napoleon and you can get your make up done for $90 redeemable on product)
7. Hair. Have a professional do your hair. ( In Paige’s case I did it and it looked ok) But I still recommend having someone else do it!
8. Clothes. Bring a range of outfits. Styling is very important in a shoot. Sometimes the photographer will help you choose something other times he won’t. Colours are important. Choose simple clothes that fit well.
9. Try to relax and listen to the directions of the photographer. Just be yourself; that is what the camera is trying to capture. The beautiful essence of you!
10. Remember have fun and if you’re still feeling nervous have a glass of champagne!

Paige and I had a lot of fun. She was a little nervous at first but then she got used to it and her photos turned out great!

Pretty & Plump!

The downside? The UK study found that wrinkly lips was a genetic thing, rather than an environmental thing. That’s not saying you can’t do anything about it! And by no means does this mean heading down for some quick-fix surgery and Botox. Although such measures are an effective way to increase the size of your lips, there ARE natural alternatives, and experts are unsure as to whether Botox makes such a convincing difference.

Feathering (when the skin around your lips begins to wrinkle or appears dry, which makes the lipstick bleed into the lines on your lips)

Grace N’ Glamour advise you use a lip liner, to avoid lipstick bleeding into the lines on your lips. Lip liner acts as a barrier which prevents the lipstick from bleeding outside the lip line. Use a pencil liner as it will ensure less chance of smudges.

Thinning of Lips

The best and safest way to make lips appear fuller is to apply some tinted balm as the base coat for your lipstick. Try a good lip balm like Pawpaw or even any Blistex. I love Benetint – its a tinted red lip balm with SPF 15 – perfect for summer!

Cracking and Chapping

For a quick fix to rid dry and flaky lips, try exfoliating your lips with a round scrubber, specially for removal of dry and dead skin flakes from the lips. Then apply some lip balm to fill in the crevices and then proceed with lip gloss or lipstick.

During Chanel’s Spring/Summer 2010 catwalk show, many of the models were painted with temporary tattoos and body art to add to their runway look. Karl Largerfeld wasn’t the only one to use this concept, others including Rodarte and Jean Paul Gaultier. But now Chanel is offering you the chance to etch your own skin in Chanel, with its Temporary Skin Art.

Starting in mid-Feb, Les Trompe L’Oeil de Chanel Temporary Skin Art will be launching its Chanel temp tattoos, available for a limited time through Chanel.com. For about US$78 you’ll get 55 tattoos to choose from, which seems pretty reasonable for Chanel! Then again, they’re not permanent and how long they actually last for is uncertain… hopefully long enough to keep up with the fad itself!

It’s the latest in the trendiest salons across Europe, recently hitting the scene in London. The chocolate body wrap… it sounds extravagant, because it is! It’s the ultimate beauty treatment, said to be every chocolate lover’s dream with “well over an hour of pure bliss!” (http://www.viewlondon.co.uk).

The luxurious skin treatment (which sadly isn’t available in Australia just yet), features the the powerful properties and antioxidents of pure cocoa butter. The Matis Cocoa Body Wrap is a two hour treatment that claims to leave your body feeling conditioned, nourished and satisfied…. mmmmm. If only we felt this good when we actually ate chocolate?

Of course, with such yummy beauty treatments there comes a price… and this one is not cheap. Neville in Knightsbridge (nevillehairandbeauty.net) charges 230 pounds for this indulgence! Alternatively, for 43 pounds you can have a “quick fix” – a 20 minute power chocolate wrap. Hmmm… a girl can dream can’t she?

Miss Price says she doesn’t take much care of her skin, but the two things she does credit to having better skin are botox and sunbeds, both of which aren’t particularly good for you, but heck, they get the job done …

Never having tried Botox myself, I don’t judge Katie on her choices. But we all know many celebs out there can’t beat the needle, but the truth is: does it really look better when they’re unable to frown? Show emotions? Age gracefully?

It seems Katie isn’t the only one owing her beauty regime to Botox. Lately, many celebs that have been injecting the powerful chemicals into their skin for ages have recently decided to confess their little kept secrets. Perez Hilton recently criticsed Rachel Ray for looking a little Botoxed in the face, and other celebs including Courtney Cox, Brooke Shields and Vanessa Williams have all come out and admitted to getting work done.
