'In the Heights' musical

The ‘In the Heights’ musical on Broadway was a great experience.

After many ‘actor’ and ‘industry’ friends recommended the show to me I made time to go and see it on broadway.

Corbin Bleu (of Highschool musical fame) played the lead…and yes I have a new crush on the guy.

“The story explores three days in the characters’ lives in the New York City Dominican-American neighborhood of Washington Heights. The score features hip-hop, salsa, merengue and soul music. The musical’s 2008 Broadway production was nominated for thirteen Tony Awards and won the Tony Award for Best Musical at the 62nd Tony Awards.”

The Box in New York

”The Box’ is a Burlesque type club in NY.

It has a stage where there is a show on at 1 30am, 2 30am and a ‘dirty’ show at 3am.

The shows; range from dancing to acrobatics.

You buy a table and the cheapest bottle you can get is $700 ( no I didn’t buy a table…I just crashed one)

On the night I went…David Arquette and Courtney Cox was there. David got a lap dance from the dancers which was pretty amusing!

For my birthday my girlfriends took me to Katana (a Japanese restaurant) and Tuesdale ( a night club for celebrities)

I shared my birthday with Adrian from the tv show Entourage…a bit strange I know..

Katana is a very hard place to get a table and Tuesdale is also a very hard place to get into…but we were with Adrian so nothing was a problem…I wish I was a celebrity…they get treated like royalty…everyone is their ‘friend’.

Katana…had the most amazing food and the service was so good I felt like a princess.

We had a driver that took us to the night club Tuesdale. We were in the very VIP room…were Leonardo hangs out…or so I’m told.

At th nightclub I met Kristen from Twilight…I didn’t recognise her and was giving her advice about how to get her friends in the VIP room..me giving her advice…?? she must have thought I was out of my mind..as I’m so well connected…no really…I am…NOT…she was lovely and told me she just got in from NY and was a bit tired.

All I can say about the night is that I have a rather large headache today : )

I was first introduced to Ayo at the Blues and Roots festival in Byron Bay.

She was fantastic!

Ayo (meaning joy) is a Nigerian-German singer-song writer. Her album ‘Joyful’ is a blend of folk and soul.

Now it seems the papers won’t stop giving her a hard time! First the gossip mags are at her for being fat, then she was too thin, now she’s fat again. And nowwww, S magazine are at it for her unprofessionalism. I feel sorry for the girl, because the truth is, when the best you can do is get a stint on Law and Order as a pregnant prostitute, you know your career has bombed. So you would think you would actually try really hard to play the pregnant prostitute, albiet you may be hating yourself inside, but instead, Mischa apparently could not keep up with her small seven line role. According to S, she kept stuffing up her lines, so much so, that filming that one scene with only 7 lines took 10 whole hours!! Poor girl. The crew were furious. I wonder what her next break will be?

Anyway, think that’s bad enough? Well think again. News on the Daily Buzz claims that Mischa has also skipped out on her rent, magazines reporting that she is being sued for the three months of rent she is refusing to pay on her NYC pad. Well its no wonder, I doubt a 7 line itch in Law and Order can cover the cost of her US$7,000 a month rent, especially when she can’t even get the lines right!

All sources point to her partying and bad habits as the result of this mess. I still can’t help feel a tiny bit sorry for her thought… What are your thoughts? Leave her alone, or has she dug this hole just too deep??

How do these girls get around town? They ride. Not old-school bikes… but chic, trendy and stylish bicycles that come with a hefty price tag (if you’re purchasing designer cycles of course).

While I’m interested in getting myself my own set of trendy wheels, when I took quick peruse at Australian Vogue’s Jan 2010 edition I found a Gucci Bicycle for a whopping $7, 255!

Or, if Gucci isn’t really you’re style (or in your price range – which it certainly isn’t mine!) then you can hop on a Hermes bike for only $3, 165 (!!!!).

But wait, there’s more! These hefty accessories need serious consideration. Like any fashion trend, apparently I have to be extremely careful in choosing the right bike. And how do I do that?

Vogue advises you to choose “style over speed” (of course). Next, one must consider colour, and finally, there is a whole style of dress that one must wear when riding a chic-cycle. Think trendy flat sandles mixed with breezy cotton dresses.
