White Revolver's First Birthday

White Revolver had its birthday.

As we entered the crowded space (yes walk through this strange/hidden door to get to the actual bar inside) the music was pumping. The DJ put all the old school classics on.

We came after a 5 min change at a friends house (because we had been to Zumba before hand). Zumba put us in the mood to dance the night away….and dance we did!

The crowd at White Revolver’s birthday was a lot older than I would expect…but the usual suspects were there!

We got our members key which is pretty cool…It loks like an old key from an antique store. Not sure what it entails but it looks good on my key chain.

Goldbar in NY

Today we went to Gold Bar in NY.

We weren’t planning on going there…we were just walking through the streets of NY…

When we spotted some really good-looking people getting turned away from a red carpet.

As we walked passed we spotted a really hot guy at the door.

Friend to me ” Lets go there…do something!”

Me: “BUT I’m wearing sandels and a sun dress…he is turning away the best looking/cool people I have ever seen!”

Me to door guy: Making my Aussie accent just that more Aussie ” Hi MATE, I know there is an Aussie pub around here somewhere…would you know where it is?”

Door guy: “Yeah actually it’s just down the road…” pause ” If you don’t find it come back in here…this is the coolest bar in NY” BINGO

Me: “Thanks for that MATE…we will go and check out the pub first and see how we go”

Friend to me: “let’s go in now….”

Me: “No we have to do a loop so it looks like we WERE actually looking for it”

We did a loop.

Me to door man: “We couldn’t find it”

Door man to me : “Have fun girls…”

OH WE WILL!

We walked in…wearing sandles and dresses…and yes we didn’t really look the part…but who cares?

The stylish kids of NY look like they have just stepped out of a magazine…It wasn’t a large bar…but it was filled with very cool cats…Maybe some of that fashion and general ‘coolness’ will rub off on me.

The Box in New York

”The Box’ is a Burlesque type club in NY.

It has a stage where there is a show on at 1 30am, 2 30am and a ‘dirty’ show at 3am.

The shows; range from dancing to acrobatics.

You buy a table and the cheapest bottle you can get is $700 ( no I didn’t buy a table…I just crashed one)

On the night I went…David Arquette and Courtney Cox was there. David got a lap dance from the dancers which was pretty amusing!

Tonight was an interesting night…I went to all gay clubs in NY.

I loved it!

a. No harassment from guys

b. I STILL got free drinks!

We started off at a restaurant…yes most of the men were gay..then off we went to some gay night clubs.

I had a great dance…and  finished off the night making so many ‘best friends’ I couldn’t count them all.

Every girl needs a best gay friend. He will always tell you the truth.

The 'Rehab' Party in Vegas

I attended the ‘Rehab Party’ in Las Vegas.

The party is held at the Hard Rock Hotel (where we stayed).

Although a crazy party…it was pretty wild and not in a good way.

If you want to experience Vegas in all its glory…you have to attend this pool party…you will see things you would rather forget.

I ended up in a VIP bungalow with the stars of the ‘Rehab’ reality tv show…drank from giant cups…and danced like MJ…whilst giving spiritual advice to the stars…lets just say those ‘cups’ had a lot of alcohol in them.

The girls were plastic…the guys in la la land…all in all the experience was a funny one…not my type of party but I’m sure it would knock off someone elses socks…like the geeky guy with his 6 foot escort.

Voyeur Night Club...

When do you see Ashton Kutcher, a Victoria Secrets model and other celebrities in one place?

At a LA nightclub!

You would think that celebrities would be over going out…being in L.A has proved my perception wrong.

Will we ever tire of going out? I’m not sure…there are a few people who should have retired by now but are still going strong!

If you have watched ‘The Hils’ or just follow celebrities in general….you will notice they ‘hang’ at certain places.

Voyeur is one of them.

My night was interesting…an Aussie guy and girl at the door helps…in getting in.

It’s a place of sexual fantasy. When I was there….Girls were locked up in cages dressed as police woman doing striptese…or ‘dancing’ to be polite. The show adds this electric feel to the place. Like any other place…men have to buy a table…which means the minimum spend is about $1000 (that’s for one bottle of vodka.)

And yes it sucks to be a man!

The live music here is just spectacular. Both nights we were there (and every other time I have visited Byron) I have enjoyed the bands playing.

2. La La Land

This bar/club is not very ‘Byron’. A typical club you would expect in Sydney or Melbourne….red carpet, bouncers and door girls. If your after a more ‘clubby’ experience or you just want a change of scenery head here for a cocktail or two.

The design and interiors were world-class. I was shocked at how cool they were. The Brisbane crowd is so different to that of Sydney…you can go to a trendy, 5 star bar and bring your grandma and nobody would notice. You can sit at the new ‘in’ club with Jo the mechanic. In Sydney this would never happen. The strict ‘door guys’ would never let your mum in to a swish bar. BUT that’s what I loved about Brisbane…

It’s not pretentious, and that’s how I like it.

Kit and Kaboodle…is a 2 lever bar/club in the main strip in Kings Cross. Previously I have attended a few launch parties there but on the weekend I went with my girlfriends to have a catch up. 

The vintage yet modern feel of the place feels pretty cool. I have only ever been to the top-level so can’t comment on the bottom. 

What is the crowd like? Think…private school kids…graduates from Sydney Uni…a bit preppy….and those hard-core party animal bankers that are there to PARTY (they don’t get out much). Age range varies, but the kids don’t seem to be 18 so that’s a plus…or even if they are they seem über confident and sophisticated so they pull it off… with their parents money.

Kings Cross

‘The Club’ is just under Hugo’s and filled with white kids thinking they are Jay Z,  Beyonce and Keisha. When I walked in I realised I wasn’t dressed properly (I had just come from a nice grown up dinner) and that somehow I had to transform into some sexy R & B dancing goddess.

There was the MC Hammer wannabe dancer, Girls impersonating Britney Spears and pole dancing, and the poor guy trying really hard  but just ending up looking like he was doing the running man with his hands up in the air. Dancing to R & B is an art form and if you want to try it….head to ‘The Club’.

The DJ was great. Really fun. He wasn’t one of those DJ’s who thought he was God. He looked like he was having just as much fun as everyone else which to me, made ‘The Club’ feel more inviting. I’m not very cool when it comes to music so at least I knew all the songs I was dancing to.

There was a line up, so I’m not sure how hard it is to get in as we were on the door list, so I recommend getting there early, dressing like you would if you were 17 and trying to get into a club for the first time (ok you don’t have to really do that but you get the jist) and then dancing your little heart out!
