According to the New York Times, there’s a new trend in town that is affecting the male species. Known as “heavage” the NYT defines it as: “A dubious portmanteau for male cleavage – an exposed (and often buffed) chest.”
And according to the Wall Street Journal, we’re seeing a huge resurgence of “heavage” – or in other words – man cleavage. Walking around the Kings Cross area on a Saturday afternoon, you’d be lead to believe that the trend has infiltrated Down Under, but considering there’s largely a gay population in my area, I’m not exactly sure that the straight blokes trying to woo women for casual sex are jumping in on the trend too fast. But according to the WSJ, this might not be the case;
“Until recently, male décolletage was an androgynous fashion affectation limited mainly to sporadic appearances on European runways. But the look, including deep V-necks and scoop-neck tops, hit the U.S. in full force at New York’s September Fashion Week, turning up at shows by Duckie Brown, Michael Bastian and Yigal Azrouël.”
While it’s enough to make any flat-chested woman green with envy, I’m not quite sure it’s enough to make any woman fall weak at the knees. Or maybe it is??
What do you think of “heavage,” plunging necklines on men?
